Six Nations of Grand River with the Haldimand Treaty of October 25, 1784

Hello Everyone
This is Amos Key Jr. Manager here at CKRZ 100.3 FM
Wadrenota, my real name is Dehaeho:węhs.
I want to share with you the Background regarding a
Proclamation, (for a new made at home), Sovereign Holiday
made by 59 th Six Nations Elected Council and represents the
continued efforts in Nation Building… upon our Sacred
Territory.
This Proclamation commemorates the founding of Six Nations
of Grand River with the Haldimand Treaty of October 25, 1784:
Six miles on each side of the Grand River, including the river
bed, from its mouth to its source.

The Haldimand Treaty of October 25, 1784, Honours the
Relationship between the Haudenosaunee and the Crown, as
allies to each other, resulting in an enduring ally ship during and
following the American Revolution; 1775 to 1783 and
skirmishes, well into 1812, and though, the Honour of the
Crown, is ‘so often tarnished, to this day.. this allyship still
exists.

As you know, this 7-8 year American Revolution, was between
the Americans and the British for control of the eastern
seaboard.
History tells us some 1,840 of our Ancestors came to reside, at
Grand River over the following year, in 1785.
We have all but loss those oral accounts of these travels to
Grand River, but can you imagine their stories?

I often wonder: …. Where did they cross the Niagara River or
the Lakes?
I also wonder what was it like and what happened to our
Ancestors at the early settlements of the Cayuga at Cayuga
Ontario, the Onondaga at Middleport and the Mohawks, at
Brantford??

As mentioned: This Sovereign Proclamation follows our efforts
for Nation Building privileging our Onkwehonweh and
Haudenosaunee Ancestors, their Nations and their Clans.
This proclamation builds upon our ‘Social Determinants of
Haudenosaunee Health’ originating from our: spiritualities,
virtues, ethics, philosophies, psychologies, our moral
compasses and moral imperatives of our Ancestors and, the
moral authourities of our Institutions so, we can all live up and
down the Grand River, upon our Sacred Lands, in Peace and
into perpetuity.

It is hoped this, Sovereign Holiday will grow ‘organically’ and
more and more Haudenosaunee Institutions and
Haudenosaunee Businesses will follow suit, and participate in
the coming years, as we continue to embark on this road to
‘Haudenosaunee Nation Building’ upon our Sacred Lands…
together.

That is why, CKRZ, will be closed on Monday October 27 th so as,
to Honour the founding of the Haldimand Treaty and to Honour
the commitment to our Ancestors and these Sacred Lands.
