The Voices are Coming – Six Nations White Corn
On a recent airing of Degawęno:da:ge’ The Voice are Coming : hosted by Laurel Curley and myself Amos Key Jr… a comment was made that perhaps the fields and soils for growing Six Nation White Corn located west of GRE , on Chiefswood Road and on 6th line should be tested in case soil contamination by GRE.
The good news is… and we are happy to report: The Six Nations Farmers Association were way ahead of us!
The soil has been tested by A & L Canada Labs Inc. out of London Ontario. The soil has been tested for quality assurance and is free of acceptable contamination, citing all 11 metals tested, are half and / or on par with the Ontario Standards for: Arsenic, Cadmium, Chromium, Cobalt, Copper, Lead, Mercury, Nickel ,Selenium, Molybdenum and Zinc.
The Certificate of Analysis was dated May, 2022.
The Lab reported that these tests should be carried out every four to five years, unless there has been much upheavel or visible damage to the soils… then the tests can be done sooner.
The Six Nations Farmers Association and now CKRZ possess A copy of Certificate of Analysis stating all test results are within the Ontario Acceptable Standards for Agriculture Soil.
For more information and if you have any other questions you are free to call the Six Nations Farmers Association at: 519 445 0022
We wish the Six Nations Farmers Association, all the best as they began their work of planting this years crop of Six Nations White Corn to be ready for this fall for the Community at Grand River.
Perhaps going forward, GRE , will offer to test the soil annually for The Six Nations Farmers Association as part of their annual CSR corporate social responsibility …
