We are Talking (Language Classes)
CKRZ 100.3 FM produces two weekly hour long programmes entitled We are Talking - Deyǫk:ta’ heard on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 9 a.m. ( with a recorded rebroadcast on Wednesday nights at 7 p.m).
These two programmes are produced entirely in the Cayuga Language, by a dedicated team of community volunteer producers. The content includes: discussion on community events and promotions; language lessons: including: new vocabulary; grammar; and verb conjugation lessons.
They break up the pace of shows with word and bingo games in the Cayuga Language and interviews with
special guests.
The Cayuga Language at Six Nations of the Grand River is deemed 'Critically Endangered' by UNESCO in thieir
World Atlas of Languages in Danger.
This Cayuga Language Program also responds to the United Nations General Assembly's Declaration of the Decade of Indigenous Languages 2022-2032: Resolution A/RES74/135. (December 17, 2022)
