Genevieve is from Chippewa of the Thames near London, Ontario. Genevieve’s first three radio releases all hit Canada’s Top 100 and it was not until the summer of 2012 that Genevieve achieved her first national hit. The springtime release of “July”, a song she co-wrote with Nashville songwriter Jennifer Schott was that song. “July” has been heard on over 60 stations across Canada. “July” peaked at #41 on the country charts, remaining in the Top 50 for almost 3 months. Genevieve has been one of the top 10 most played Canadian female country artists on Canadian radio.

The success Genevieve has achieved on the radio has transferred to a long list of impressive live show performances. She has had the opportunity to open for big names as Hunter Hayes, David Nail, Dean Brody, and Great Big Sea. Genevieve has also had the opportunity to perform at some of the biggest music festivals in Canada. Festivals such as Boots and Hearts, Havelock Jamboree, Lucknow Music in the Fields, Manitoulin Country Fest, Trackside and Aboriginal Day Live. Genevieve had the privilege of writing with some of country music’s brightest songwriters. Artists such as Jason Blaine, Steven Lee Olsen, Patricia Conroy, Michelle Wright, Jason Massey, Jennifer Schott are some of the songwriters she has worked with.

Genevieve’s follow up release to “July”, entitled “Shut Down This Day” also hit Canada’s top 50 peaking at 42. Genevieve has six top 50 national country radio hits. Genevieve’s last two singles, “Take it on Home” and ”You Me We” climbed into Canada’s top 20 and top 30 respectively. The video for “Take it on Home” has almost 15,000 hits on Shazam. Furthermore “Take it on Home”also has more than 48,000 views on YouTube.

Awards and Recognition

Genevieve has earned recognition within the Canadian Country Music scene by earning Female Artist of the Year nominations in 2013, 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 at the Country Music Association of Ontario Music Awards. Genevieve has been recognized by the Canadian Country Music Association. As a result this was displayed in 2012 with Genevieve’s New Artist Showcase performance at the CCMA’s in Saskatoon. Genevieve’s songwriting skills have also been acknowledged by the CCMA. Witnessed by their selection to perform for prestigious Songwriters Series in 2016 and 2018. Genevieve’s Indigenous background has allowed her to score two Number 1 hits on the North American Indigenous top 40. She has appeared on APTN’s Solidarity Day celebrations and in 2018, made an appearance right here at Six Nations.
